Performs laboratory assays and complex experiments to elucidate novel research questions. The Xian Lab studies how mitochondrial stress controls cellular immunology in autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer's disease and cancer. We address how the immune sensing of mitochondrial DNA licenses inflammation and autoimmunity. We integrate functional genomics and proteomics with cellular and molecular immunology techniques, to understand the crosstalk between dendritic cells, CD4 T cells and macrophages. Ideal candidates will have skills in animal handling, lab management skills, strong commnication, and basic cellular/molecular skills in genotyping, PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, cell immunofluourescence, Western blotting, cell culture, etc.
Under the direction of the assigned executive, provides advanced administrative support to the executive and provides support to the executive's areas of responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Medical Director and Manager of Versiti's Comprehensive Center for Bleeding Disorders (CCBD), and as a member of the comprehensive care team, the Social Worker has two primary areas of practice: psychosocial assessment /support and financial/insurance counseling. The CCBD Social Workers are expected to maintain competency in both areas, but may have a day to day focus in one area or the other and act as back up for each other.
Under direction of the Manager of Transfusion Service, follows all applicable SOPs, performs immunohematology testing on patient samples and provides the correct blood product for transfusion based on these results. Performs component preparation as ordered by the provider to ensure the correct product is issued for transfusion. Provides the most appropriate blood in a timely and accurate manner and provides phone consultation to customers.
Under the direction of a Principal Investigator, further develops and expands understanding of scientific theory in his/her area of interest. Incumbent also learns and applies scientific laboratory techniques and gains experience in other areas of research that will lead to increased probability of success as an independent scientist. This is a training position with an expected duration of 1 year. This project is part of our NIH R01 grant focused on defining how endothelial Rap1 isoforms regulate calcium and nitric oxide signaling to support EC–cardiomyocyte communication during cardiac growth and stress. We use endothelial-specific knockout mice, calcium imaging, vascular physiology, and endothelial cell – cardiomyocyte co-culture models to uncover mechanisms by which Rap1...
Develops, improves, and implements laboratory techniques and performs complex experiments and/or tests to contribute to the timely and accurate completion of the research project(s). We use endothelial-specific knockout mice, calcium imaging, vascular physiology, and endothelial cell – cardiomyocyte co-culture models to uncover mechanisms by which Rap1 dysfunction impairs coronary flow and promotes heart failure.
Performs laboratory assays and complex experiments to elucidate novel research questions. The Jarjour lab studies tissue-resident immunity to pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and helminths. Tissue-resident T cells are an area of special emphasis. This position will play an important role in launching the laboratory with primary responsibilities for managing/genotyping the mouse colony and ordering, as well as assisting with experiments and other more minor responsibilities. While prior laboratory experience is required, training will be provided in the specific techniques required for the position. Ideal candidates will have experience with animal handling, techniques, and euthanasia; flow cytometry; PCR for genotyping.
