Position Summary

Develops and leads an apheresis team that embraces customer service by providing the donor with a pleasant, safe experience while meeting donor recruitment/draw goals related to all automated collections. Ensures all operations are within the standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Leads staff in center, on mobiles, and at area hospitals. Attends mobiles several times per month.
  • Supports and provides feedback to mentor and coach all employees and provides a safe environment for their employment.
  • Oversees the training and orientation of Apheresis staff.
  • Promotes operations to include the use of critical thinking skills.
  • Oversees day-to-day activities pertaining to resolving staffing, scheduling, and equipment issues.
  • Participates in daily operational planning meetings, working across departments, to forecast, ensure staff are collecting to targets, and aware of product utilization and expirations.
  • Assist on mobiles by ensuring equipment is present, evaluate processes, identify process improvements, educate and ensure appropriate conversions.
  • Develops, implements and manages all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality operations and following current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Assists in budget, monitors overtime and expenses.
  • Strives to develop and achieve departmental goals consistent with mission and strategic plan.
  • Supervises departmental Quality Control and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Promotes positive high-quality customer service.
  • Completes all necessary orders and reports and maintains necessary records and ensures all collection eligibility standards comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Correlates past and present medical histories and health status of donors to determine eligibility.
  • Resolves customer complaints/issues immediately.
  • Performs all duties as a Team Leader if necessary.
  • Ensures that all formal standards, procedures and safety practices applicable to employee, donor, patient, and recipient are followed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by VP.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or RN required

Experience

  • Previous clinical healthcare experience with increasing responsibility required
  • Previous supervisory experience. required
  • Experience in Blood Banking or Dialysis desired
  • Previous phlebotomy and/or IV experience desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot (operations and computer issue) required
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written required
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain an effective team required

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required
