Position Summary

Under the direction of Director, Manager, or Supervisor of respective lab is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and upgrades of assigned information systems used in the Diagnostic Laboratories to ensure that the capabilities of the system(s) and customer satisfaction are maximized according to BCW standards.

The target salary for this position is $71,190 per year.

The target salary is based on internal averages. Versiti sets salary ranges aligned to local markets in which the job is performed. Compensation decisions take into account internal salary averages and differentiation based on education, experience, skills, and performance. Specific salary and benefits information is shared at the time of the phone screening based on your location and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, manages and reports against project plans.
  • Ensures that customer requirements are met through system analysis, project scope and project phasing.
  • Evaluates laboratory system needs, identifies improvement, then plans, facilitates, delegates and/or performs project tasks to ensure project completion within designated timeframes; as issues are identified is responsible for taking appropriate action and when necessary escalation steps. Reports to processes owners project status throughout project life cycle.
  • Acts as a liaison between Diagnostic Laboratories, Information Services (IS), and/or external clients on computer system issues, training, security and support; identifies and provides feedback on issues regarding customer needs, requirements, issues/concerns and satisfaction, potential expansion opportunities, competitor activities/strategies, etc.
  • Coordinates creation and execution of validation plans and summaries.
  • Develops and maintains computer procedures, training materials, and other related documentation following BCW procedures.
  • Creates and maintains documentation matrices, data gathering and analysis.
  • Identifies and documents problems identified with systems and leads, coordinates and/or participates in resolution.
  • Manages change control process and procedures supported in the Diagnostic Labs; reviews and approves database changes in information systems within the scope of the position.
  • Provides, coordinates and evaluates training for laboratory staff on LIS, related systems and materials.
  • Assists internal and external customers with data procurement, special billing, charting or reporting needs.
  • Works collaboratively with and provides support and back up for other LIS Project Specialists.
  • Maintains knowledge of laboratory processes, procedures and customers.
  • Maintains knowledge of license and accreditation requirements relevant to laboratory use of information systems.
  • Facilitates collection of data on quality indicators. Analyzes data, summarizes and prepares reports relating to LIS.
  • Provides laboratories with troubleshooting assistance on information systems.
  • Assists with information system downtime procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • Relevant baccalaureate degree in laboratory science, information systems required
  • or equivalent experience required
  • Master's Degree in medical informatics or computer information systems preferred

Experience

  • 1-3 years experience performing laboratory testing and/or using LIS required
  • 1-3 years experience in adult training and education preferred
  • Experience in training on computers and technical procedures preferred
  • Experience in development and implementation of processes in a regulated environment preferred
  • 1-3 years of leading successful cross-functional projects and teams preferred
  • Experience in creation and execution of validation plans, change control, tracking and data analysis to support process improvement and quality initiatives preferred
  • 1-3 years relevant work experience in assigned laboratory required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS), preferably Cerner Millennium, MS Project, labtest.com, MicroSoft CRM, and/or Smart Pilgrim CAPA required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects, priorities and responsibilities required
  • Ability to develop and edit procedures, training, validations and other documentation required
  • Knowledge of licensing and accrediting requirements relevant to Diagnostic Laboratory’s use of computer systems and software required
  • Excellent leadership, team building and communication skills required
  • Skilled at problem identification, data analysis, change management and problem escalation required
  • Excellent computer skills; i.e., word processing, database, and spreadsheets required
  • Skilled at effectively presenting information across diverse audiences required
  • Exceptional customer service skills required
  • Knowledge of laboratory specific procedures, policies, and regulations required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Cerner certification (Specialist, Professional or Master preferred

  • Personal computer required
