Position Summary

Under the direction of the department leadership, organizes and prioritizes work flow across core production, hospital services, and specialized production, to enhance services in an efficient and effective manner. Executes technical skills department wide and demonstrates the ability to lead a cohesive team in absence of management.

 

Compensation

  • $23/hr.

  • Shift differentials for evenings ($1.50/hr.) & weekends ($2.00/hr.)

 

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Availability to cover additional shifts as needed
  • Training hours will be on a 1st shift schedule. After training has been completed, you will transition to 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and performs laboratory activities to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Maintains full competency in at least one production area and key competencies across the department
  • Facilitates and prioritizes work flow and covers gaps in production in absence of supervisor
  • Handles day to day production and distribution questions put forth by production staff
  • Manages the process of reviewing policies and procedures to improve laboratory services
  • Assists in resolving and investigating deviations and helps prepare corrective actions
  • Assists in staff scheduling and determining shift hours for open positions
  • Trains staff members in production processes when required
  • Performs blood production manufacturing processes on red blood cells and or platelets
  • Process orders for blood, components and derivative products consistent with regulatory standards while meeting customer expectations
  • Maintains laboratory supplies and equipment as assigned
  • Monitors CLIA and Proficiency Testing when required
  • Ability to lead or participate in functional or cross-functional project work
  • Works weekend, holiday rotations and on-call, as needed
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology or related science preferred

Experience

  • management and human resources approval based on experience required
  • Demonstrates successful performance and competencies of Senior Production Specialist required

  • Ability to read and interpret Standing Operating Procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals

  • Software systems (Blood Establishment Computer Systems, Title 21) required
  • Freezers, refrigerators, box cutter required
  • Lab specific equipment, including, but not limited to: required
  • Centrifuges, dry ice, refrigerators, required
  • Sysmex, ADAM, ABx, BacT/Alert, BDFACS Calibur required
  • Tube Sealers, tube welders, presses, scales required
  • Irradiator, if working in HS required
