Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Hospital Development & Volunteer, the Senior Volunteer and Events Liaison leads the volunteer program, driving key initiatives aligned with strategic goals to advance organ donation awareness, increase Wisconsin registry rates, and support fundraising efforts. The role oversees high-impact projects and events, cultivates partnerships, and manages volunteer engagement and recruitment. It also supports Versiti Organ and Tissue networks through donor and community outreach targeting key audiences, including the business community, diverse populations, and other demographic sectors. The Senior Liaison provides leadership to interns, student workers, and casual employees supporting the volunteer program.

Responsibilities

  • Travels to coordinate or assist with volunteer, organizational events or outreach opportunities o Lead development and implementation of volunteer engagement strategies across diverse events and campaigns o Collaborate with AfterCare Liaison to recruit and engage donor families into the Versiti donor family volunteer program o Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation to maintain and grow a high-quality volunteer network o Build and manage partnerships with corporate and community organizations for strategic outreach
  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Manage communication strategies in collaboration with hospital development, community outreach, and other cross-functional teams to support donation awareness
  • Design and oversee volunteer recognition programs and networking events to enhance engagement and retention
  • Represent the organization in Donate Life Wisconsin and other key committees
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and AOPO standards, contributing to quality assurance efforts
  • Actively participates in Versiti lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop volunteer programs to support educational, outreach, and fundraising goals, offering ongoing coaching and support
  • Proactively handle customer complaints, creating follow-up plans and communicating potential concerns to leadership
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Degree in communications, public relations or marketing preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience (3-5 yrs) may be substituted for the degree with the approval of Human Resources required

Experience

  • 3 years planning events, coordinating large meetings, working in a marketing function or similar required
  • 1-3 years developing and managing successful initiatives, coordinating resources, and managing outcomes required
  • 1-3 years fundraising experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and rapport-building skills including the ability to listen actively and respond with empathy, tact, and sensitivity. required
  • A strong customer service focus with effective relationship-building. required
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. required
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. required
  • Ability to travel in community. required
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and access to a vehicle. required
