Position Summary

Performs laboratory assays and complex experiments to elucidate novel research questions using flow cytometry.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Principal Investigator and their staff to plan, structure, and execute research experiments involving flow cytometry
  • Troubleshoots assays and customizes experimental tools
  • Coordinates external and internal resources necessary for completion of research plan
  • Generates clear and complete records of experimental work
  • Participates in publication of research results
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned to technically support scientific projects in the Flow Cytometry Core lab and other tasks that are assigned by the Core Director
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification
  • Understands and performs in accordance with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to work 10am-6pm or 11am-7pm M-F

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in biology, chemistry or equivalent scientific discipline required

Experience

  • 1-3 years relevant laboratory experience required
  • Flow Cytometry experience strongly preferred 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of theoretical basis of work being performed preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision required
  • Proficient in research laboratory techniques required
  • Strong detail orientation and analytical ability required
  • Ability to accurately carry out experiments and tasks by following established guidelines required
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks required
  • Effective organizational and communication skills required

Tools and Technology

  • Personal computer required
  • Specialized research equipment preferred
